I am among a small number of attorneys who hold a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree and practice law at the intersection of medicine and litigation. This dual background allows me to approach complex cases with a depth of insight uncommon in traditional legal practice.
My professional background includes medical education, exposure to psychiatric and rehabilitation environments as part of training and administrative experience, and more than 15 years of operating and managing a rehabilitation clinic from an organizational and systems perspective. I also hold arbitration and mediation certifications and have lived and worked in multiple countries and states within the United States. These experiences have shaped a multidisciplinary understanding of how neurological, endocrinological, and psychosocial factors are reflected in medical records, expert opinions, and human behavior relevant to litigation.
This perspective enables me to analyze med-legal issues from the viewpoints of attorneys, medical experts, injured individuals and their families.
In 2012, my family experienced a devastating tragedy when my aunt, a medical doctor and Christian missionary, and my uncle, a full-time minister, were involved in a catastrophic collision. My aunt lost her life, and my uncle suffered severe traumatic brain and physical injuries. I relocated to assist in his care, and together with my family — including my father, a physical therapist — we provided continuous 24 x 7 home-based support for seven years until his passing. This experience gave me firsthand insight into the burdens faced by caregivers after serious injury.
As a result, I approach injured clients with a deep appreciation for the human impact of trauma as reflected in medical records, testimony, and case history. My role is legal, not clinical — ensuring these realities are accurately understood and presented within the litigation process.
Professionally, I assist attorneys with case evaluations, identification of key med-legal issues, and preparation for medical expert depositions and cross-examinations. As co-counsel, I collaborate on complex personal injury, wrongful death, and product liability cases, from intake through trial, and assist trial teams in analyzing juror responses to medical evidence and expert testimony.
